Update on…Just Shameless!

A few weeks ago I posted an entry about rapper 50 cent and his child support drama. There are now reports that this house they have been fighting about has gone up in flames. This morning around 5am firefighters were called to the scene and they are investigating saying it’s a strong possibility of arson. Supposedly the house went up in flames too quickly. It’s been burned to the ground. 50 cent is in Louisiana right now filming a movie and he still hasn’t been able to get his ex-girlfriend out of the house. The judge ruled she had to get out at the end of the school year. Isn’t it weird that now it goes up in flames? I’m interested in finding out what the arson investigators say. Of course I’m not pointing fingers but doesn’t it sound too convenient? Almost like if she couldn’t have the house then he couldn’t either. She’s probably not bright enough to realize that yes arson is a crime you can go to jail for (and there’s no child support payments in jail!). And also 50 would get the money for the house. There’s this thing called insurance….. I don’t know. I’m at a loss for words over here. What do you think about this mess?

Hottie of the Week! #8

Another week has passed us by! I just can’t believe it’s Friday already but I’m definitely not complaining and looking forward to the weekend!

Today’s hottie was on Dancing With the Stars. His name is Cristian De La Fuente and he’s from Chile. Born on March 10, 1974 this 6′2 hottie is an only child and a licensed pilot. He studied engineering before being spotted by a talent scout. He’s married to Angelica Castro another Chilean and they have a daughter together. He’s actually appearing in USA’s new show In Plain Sight that starts this Sunday at 10pm. Check it out if you’re interested. I was actually thinking of checking it out before I found out about him being in the show. Sounds like a good summer show. Enjoy and have a great weekend!

             

Myrka Dellanos on HSN

I was flipping channels yesterday (before my telenovela of course!) and I saw that Myrka Dellanos a Spanish channel news reporter has a line of jewelry she was selling on HSN. They were dedicating a whole show to her not sure if it was an hour or a half hour. I watched for a few minutes. Of course it was over my budget but she had a few nice peices. Check it out when you get a chance let me know what you think! I do like these bangle bracelets for $89.99. I just went on hsn and six of her peices were sold out! Good to see people doing well!

Another Telenovela Update

I see everyone likes to read my little updates so here goes this week’s update:

The evil wench has succeeded in separating her son Alejandro from Millie by making Millie believe they are brother and sister. The evil wench’s brother found out the truth about who Alejandro’s father is and blackmailed her to give her shares of the company stock (all of them!) to her nephew Hugo. Alejandro stepped down from the presidency of the company. I feel terrible for him because first his grandmother dies, doesn’t leave him a dime and then his mother gave her shares away so he has nothing. His step father hates him and isn’t going to give him anything when he dies. Not that he knows that’s his step father anyway. But he said he did have some savings.

Now everyone is interested in Millie. Hugo almost married her a while ago but the wedding was stopped. He’s still interested in her and his father is backing him up due to the fact that she’s no longer a servant but a rich girl. There’s a clause in the inheritance that says she will get a monthly living expense of 20,000 Mexican pesos per month but won’t get the lump sum until she marries.

Back to Alejandro. He’s suffering because Millie wants nothing to do with him but won’t tell him why. I can’t believe his mother would stoop that low. But Alejandro told her she’s lost a son and he doesn’t want anything to do with her. So he’s marrying some chick that entered the picture in like two weeks and they are moving far away.
 
I don’t think that the secret of who is his real father will be kept that way for long. Turns out his real father (the one night stand of his mother) is the priest’s brother! Alejandro’s stepfather (Constancio) thought his father was some other guy that died but he’s about to find out the true identity of the father. Since the priest keeps requesting the truth come out they told him he’s no longer welcome in the house. OOOHHHHH the DRAMA!

Chimi-What? Only The Best Burger EVER!

Okay I’m going to admit I have food on my mind. With the bbq-ing and all else and writing about Dominican food I started thinking of the Dominican hamburger, the Chimichurri. This burger (I know the name may be hard to pronouce) is sold out of street stands in Dominican Republic and in my old neighborhood in NYC. They used to get those hot dog type of carts/trucks and sell chimi’s out of them. So good…..ooh sorry. Back to the recipe! I found it on Dominican Cooking. I’ve been checking out the site and this is one I’m definitely going to cook next weekend! Check out the recipe here. Finish it off with a batida and it’s the perfect end to this great Dominican meal!

Craziest Diet

Summer is finally knocking on our doors and you can find lots of articles online and in magazines about how to get the perfect body or bikini ready body. I did finally get down to my goal weight and a healthy size 7. But I am still not happy (who is right?) with my belly. I have a little jelly belly I’m dying to get rid of. I don’t plan on having a small flat stomach like when I was in HS that’s long gone! But I would like to make it smaller. I’m sure it’s not as bad as I think it is we’re usually so much more critical of our own bodies. I just don’t feel like it matches the rest of me. There are claims of pills and food and excersizes that can help reach that goal. What is the craziest diet you’ve been on? I think diet is a bad word I trick myself and say I’m not on a diet but I do eat Lean Cuisines for lunch and do fast food on moderation. It’s just more of a lifestyle choice for me because I know with my family history I do have to be careful about my weight. So I try not to think of it as a diet and have my chocolate chip cookies once in a while. I’ve never tried any pills or anything like that I’m afraid of the side effects. Can’t wait to hear your stories!

Cool Beauty Bracelet!

I am reading my current issue of Latina (the June/July) and I saw this cool beauty tool I wanted to share with you. It’s a photosensitive bracelet made by Spafinder that turn from white to bright violet when exposed to the sun’s harmful UV rays. I think it would definitely remind me to put on some sunscreen especially with summer right around the corner. I need to get a moisturizer or something with high SPF because otherwise I won’t use anything. And I’ve heard and read time and time again about the suns harmful rays and the damage it can do to your skin. Hottie of the Week! #7

I’ve branched out into sports looking for Hotties. Of course these men (besides being fine as you know what) are also physically fit. Who wouldn’t love that?

Today’s hottie is baseball player A-Rod. His full name is Alexander Emmanuel Rodriguez born in Washington Heights, NYC (Basically Dominican Republic) on July 27, 1975. This cutie is Dominican by blood his parents are both from my country. This 6′3″star has a brother and sister. His family moved back to Dominican Republic when he was four then moved to Miami where he got really involved with baseball. He is married and has a little girl and I believe another one on the way. He was 2003 American League MVP and one of the higher paid baseball stars. Here he is! By the way…I say Washington Heights, NYC is basically Dominican Republic because for those of you not familiar that neighborhood is predominiantly–if not all–Dominican. It’s like you’ve went to Dominican Republic when you go there. It’s crazy! Enjoy today’s hottie! His green eyes and tanned skin are to die for!

The way that I love you…I love this song it’s the best song yet of Ashanti. She’s a great songwriter.
Kat De Luna-Run the Show…love this song too very upbeat and of course got to support my fellow Dominicans! I love the spanglish!
Amy Winehouse-I’m no Good…I absolutely love this song. It’s so retro and she’s got such a beautiful voice. I love the big band feel she’s got it’s so different from anything else out there.
Ne-Yo and Rhianna-Hate that I love you. I love this duet.
Sheek Louch-Good Love…I like this song. It’s different.
Rick Ross-The Boss…got to throw some rap in here. My hubby is a huge hip hop head. I just like the way he says “I’m the biggest Boss that you’ve seen thus far”
Alicia Keys-Teenage Love Affair. Another different sound. It takes me back to HS!
Tito El Bambino-Me Tiemblan Las Manos. It’s only two minutes long but I love it. It’s a mix of bachata and Reggaeton. And nothing beats a love song.
Huey Dunbar-Las Noches. I love this song. To death. It’s produced by Aventura and it is so beautiful. He’s got a beautiful voice and the guitar is just amazing on this song.
Aventura-Romeo Y Julieta. This is my all time favorite song. It is so well written!

Quick Telenovela Update

Just a quick note to update on my current telenovela. Got to love the drama. This is what I wrote previously if you want to catch up: I’m currently watching “Al Diablo Con Los Guapos” which means “To Hell with the Hotties” It’s pretty catchy when you say it that way. It’s beyond complicated. The orphan girl raised by a convent was hired by this affluent family to be a maid in the house. Come to find out she’s the niece of the butler and her mom was also a maid in that house who fell in love with the man who is now the head of the house so in turn that is her father. She does not know that’s her father. But the priest at the convent knows and is bound by secrecy. Her uncle the butler also knows and protects her from the evil wench of the wife who also knows the secret but noone has told her that’s her father.
Now, history is repeating itself: she’s fallen in love with the son. But wait! You’re thinking ew that’s her brother!!! Turns out the woman her father married had that child with someone else out of wedlock but he gave him his last name to keep up appearances. So his son doesn’t even know that’s not his father. Basically I’m waiting for everyone to find out all the secrets and how that’s going to turn out! Talk about complicated huh?

Well now….her grandmother adopted her as her daughter and made her the universal heir. Now grandma didn’t know she was the grandchild she’s been looking for for years. Millie is the name of the heir/grandchild. Grandma has ended up in the hospital and through all this Millie has found out the truth of who’s her father. The evil wench of her father’s wife told her minutes before marrying Alejandro which is the guy she loves that is not her brother. Of course the wench made her think that is her brother and their love can’t be. She also begged Millie not to tell Alejandro anything. She also found out her father knew about her the whole time. Grandma has died but not before Millie telling her the truth and then Millie has now vowed vengeance against her father. The priest is aware of all this but gets threatened by the evil wench not to say a word. It’s interesting what’s going to happen because Millie has been left with all of her grandmother’s fortune. Which means the son the evil wench has been “protecting” has been left with nothing. So the tables have turned.
