Handle your business! :)

Have you ever been in the middle of a financial nightmare? I was. I had a high interest rate on my car loan, my credit cards were close to maxed out and I was headed into a bad situation. Bankruptcy was not an option for me because we wanted to buy a house soon. I ended up consolidating my bills and having one low payment. It also minimized all the interest that was accumulating on my credit cards. I put my student loans on forbearance (which I recommend if you are in a similar situation. You usually have the lowest rates I’m around 3%) I used the payment I would have otherwise sent the student loan and sent it to the consolidated payment and tried doubling the minimum payment when I could so that I could also save on the interest. If you plan it correctly you can make a dent and dramatically reduce your debt using this method. Debt relief is right around the corner if you leave your credit cards at home and try to pay with cash especially wants instead of needs. All that money you save on monthly payments you can put in a savings account so next time you want something you can use that instead of using the credit cards. You can also go to billsiq. I’ve been meaning to go on this site because I’m always in the lookout for ways to save money and interest.

I also wanted to add the pyramid method if you are not able or comfortable with taking out a loan to consolidate your credit card bills. Basically with this method you pay the lowest balance card first then use the payment you would have sent to that card to add to the payment you send to the second lowest until you pay that off completely. This way you will end up hitting the loan or card with the highest balance the hardest when you’ve paid everything else off. So if you pay $20 a month to the card with the lowest balance and $30 to the one with the second lowest balance you can pay $50 to the second lowest card when you’ve paid off the lowest card. Then when that card gets paid off you can add the $50 to another card’s payment. Hope this helps!

My Favorite Purses

I haven’t drooled over purses in a while. My three favorite things to collect are 1. purses 2. lip gloss 3. stilettos.

Purses are my absolute favorite. When I gained a little weight, I refused to buy new clothes so instead I bought purses and shoes. My top three brands are:

Nine West: I like them because they are not as expensive, they are tailored and can go with everything. I own about two or three of these.

Baby Phat: They are edgy and different. I have two of these.

Kathy Von Zealand: This is the brand I’m going to drool about today. A little on the higher side as far as price I only own one but it’s my absolute favorite purse. It’s so freaking cute and these purses are funky and so different yet you can use them for every day wear.

this one is $89

this one is $110 and also comes in black patent.

Look at this one! It comes in many colors for $79.  I prefer this color though. I don’t have a purse in this color isn’t that nice? I think I’m going to keep an eye out for a purse this color. I am giving some to the Salvation Army so it’s only right that I get some more. Which one is your favorite? Do you have any favorite accessory brands?

Who’s your TV boyfriend?

I found another fun quiz titled “who’s your tv boyfriend?” I have lots of TV boyfriends like Wentworth Miller from Prison Break. He’s just yummy.

I loved the questions to this quiz. If you have some time go ahead and take it. Share your responses. Here’s mine:

Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier)

There’s so much to love, but it’s Vince’s commitment to wringing every bit of fun out of life that really attracts you to him, right? And, though he’s had his share — and them some! — of Hollywood’s hottest starlets, Vince’s fierce loyalty to his pals proves he’s a guy who knows what’s important, and, when the right woman does finally come along, he’s got it in him to be one magnificently monogamous man. Good work in taming this sexy hunk of hunkiness.

He definitely is sexy!! I can live with that!

Show off your tan!

July is almost gone and I’m sure you have a great tan going on right now. Here are some things you can do to make your tan stand out:

Wear black–a black tank top or t shirt will really bring that tan out. It gives a better contrast compared to white.

A nice shade of pink lip gloss would do wonders and really show off that tan. There are a billion shades and you can definitely find one for you. My shades are Elf’s Pink Kiss ($1) and Mac’s Spirited ($13). That’s more of a flesh toned pink and it’s my “signature color”. I always have to have a tube of it. J I have a tanned color year round though.

Pink would also be good for your nails and toes. Also if you are pretty fair skinned normally but get really tanned in the summer, right now is a good idea to try darker colors you wouldn’t otherwise wear. Like a coral pink and dark purple. That would really make your nails pop against your skin.

Mix a little bronzer with your foundation to get a little more color. Powder bronzer works best with powder foundation. If use liquid foundation you may want to try mixing a little liquid bronzer before applying.

Jergens has a moisturizer that also gives you a bit more color. For anyone that’s looking to get a little more color this would be a nice safe way to go. I don’t wear shorts much so my legs are a huge contrast to my arms. I like wearing this on my legs to make them more even. It makes my skin silky smooth too it’s great to use after you shave.

Hope you liked Mami’s Tips! Go out there and show off those great tans!

For The Organic Mami’s!

If you’re into going green, I know Jenni said she makes her own household products which I think is amazing, you may want to check out this book: Natural Beauty Recipe Book: “How to Make Your Own Organic Cosmetics and Beauty Products”. It includes 60 recipes for organic products from lotion and lip balm to shampoo and rejuvenating skin crème. I must admit I am definitely curious. It says they are quick and easy to make. (And you all know I’m all about quick and easy). Maybe I will go check this book out. I gave the Wal-mart link it’s on sale for 13.05. That’s about the price of lip gloss so if everything it boasts is true I think it’s well worth the money. I wonder if my library has it.

The Five Minute Facial

I’ve done posts in the past for the five minute pedicure and five minute manicure. But I wasn’t sure I could give a tip for the five minute facial. Until the other day at Wal-mart I stumbled on a facial pack that sounded great. It was only about $1.50 and they were in single packs. I tried it this weekend and it was great! I washed my face first and didn’t dry it. The mask needs the water to activate. It goes on nice and smooth and warms up on contact. It had a nice warming effect. It was very relaxing and you leave it on for 5 minutes and it washes right off. It doesn’t cake up or dry up like other masks. I truly recommend it. It felt like heaven if only for five minutes! I recommend doing the mask after all the kids are in bed. J

I earned a new Badge! :)

I got another badge to add to being Domestic Goddess. I’ve earned my new badge for being a Domestic Goddess(/Diva/Mami/Insert Cool Word Here) because I FINALLY took a sewing class. For $25 at Joanne Fabrics I took a fabulous sewing 101 class and the teacher taught me how to work my machine and we made throw pillows.  I’m going to share my projects I have two more pillows to do and I’m done with my couch. I went with a friend/co-worker of mine and her pillow is equally fab. She made hers for her bedroom. I’m going to make some for my bedroom next. This would be really good for Christmas gifts! Just throwing it out there! It was a 2 ½ hour class so I think it was well worth the money. Supplies are extra. If you have been thinking about getting this done (I’ve been thinking about it for 4 years!) I recommend it! Especially if you’re into Home Decor but don’t have the money. You can make a custom look for yourself for a fraction of the price!! Here’s a pic….

Hottie Of The Week! #16

Sorry I made you wait so long for hottie of the week but I’ve been so busy! And I think my Booba is getting sick. He didn’t sleep too well last night (and of course neither did I) and he just doesn’t look like my regular Booba. I hope he feels better soon I hate when he’s sick! (What Mami likes to see their babies sick though right?)

Anyway I admit the last two weeks I got a little nostalgic so I’m bringing back current. Here’s today’s hottie of the week…

Today’s hottie is YUMMY actor/singer Pablo Montero. Nothing beats a man in a suit. His skin is just beautiful. I love that reddish Native American color he’s got going on. He was born in Mexico and he’s recorded 5 albums and been in 5 Spanish soap operas. And if you’ve been following my blog for a while you know I love my Latin Drama! He sings Ranchero and Bolero type of music. He’s performed at the White House at a Cinco De Mayo Celebration. (Which also happens to be my Papi’s Birthday.) He’s even performed in China!! Now, I am not responsible for any computers/laptops that may be harmed by all the drooling you may be doing right now! Have a great weekend and enjoy the candy!

This Week’s ITunes Freebie

I’ve never heard of the free itunes download band of the week. I guess that’s the point…itunes gives you new music to try for free. Anyway I went and found somehthing from itunes on the band:

Bajofondo is an eight-member strong group from South America who fuse together contemporary electronic dance music with tango in a luscious, sophisticated and still deeply funky way. The sounds on Mar Dulce are more grand than ever and features vocals in a stronger role.

If this freebie sounds like something you might be into, you can purchase their new album complete with two bonus tracks for only $9.99 on iTunes.

If I can borrow Rhianna’s words: Please don’t stop the music!

Not Your Momma’s Coupons!

While flipping through one of my magazines I saw an article about coupons. I would like to clip coupons like the next person but really I have no time. But how about if you get it delivered by email? I get weekly emails to let me know about coupons. Do you think I take the time out to “clip” them? Nope! If you’re like me though there might be some hope for you yet.

How about if you got coupons texted to you? Now this I can do! Because sometimes I clip but forget to take them with me and I just can’t keep track of all the ones I’ve clipped. Then there’s expiration dates and it can really get to be a pain. So here’s three companies that can do this for ya. I guess depending on what types of coupons you’d like to get you can choose which one you’d go with. Or you can go through all three. You will get charged for these texts like you would regularly with your cell phone plan. Let me know how this works for you! I might try one of them to see how it works.
