Is Ugly The New Beautiful?

I ran across this article on MSN about a modeling agency in NYC that only represents people with average or unique features who are not normally considered beautiful. I’m sure you’ve all heard (or read) the drama this week about Beyonce and Loreal where a new ad featuring Beyonce was obviously altered to make her skin look lighter. Which I think was definitely not a good look. I don’t see what the big deal is. What’s wrong with having some color to your skin? But that’s another topic. Anyway this article includes images of people they represent and I didn’t really see anything so “ugly” about them. Is it just me? There were a few chunky guys and some guys with white hair but I guess the article made it seem like it was so terrible. These are just everyday folks, people!

Now, I think all models and celebrities look like everyday folks themselves. Listen if I was a celebrity I would be having a major complex. Think about it. Let’s say I’m going to a photo shoot for the cover of a popular magazine. First, I have to get up at the crack of dawn just so professional people can spend HOURS doing my hair and makeup. I mean seriously does my face look that bad that a professional has to spend hours on it? Then the photographer takes roll after roll after roll of film and it takes a full day just to get one nice cover picture and some pictures for the feature in the inside. Are you kidding? Am I that atrocious? THEN, not only do they pick the one or two pictures but they STILL have to retouch it! So the pounds of makeup the professional spent hours applying is still not enough. They would shave an inch or two from my waist, make my face look slimmer my boobies bigger my legs longer and leaner. If I was a celebrity who saw myself on a billboard I would be devastated that I don’t look that good. Look at all those celebrities they catch without makeup!

And they are calling these people ugly? You just have got to be kidding me.
