La Madrastra

This was one of my favorite novelas. Here’s the story in my words. Lady is married with two kids somehow she goes to jail for a murder she doesn’t commit. Her husband lies to the kids and tells them she’s died. They have a huge painting in the living room of a woman they think is their mother but she’s not. Fast forward 20 years later the Lady gets paroled and finds out about the lie to her kids. It’s this big who dunnit because you want to know who really committed the murder out of the circle of friends that was there. They meet yearly at the house to commemorate her “death”. It’s messed up. She ends up marrying the ex husband and becoming the stepmother which is what the title of the soap opera is La Madrastra. The ending I must say is crazy!! Nothing like your “usual” happy ending with Latin soap operas.
