I hope you had a great and tasty Thanksgiving yesterday surrounded by fun, food and family. In lieu of Hottie of the Week I would love to do a Black Friday post. I did a bit of shopping at my local Walgreen’s for some stuff (don’t sleep on Walgreen’s I got some really great holiday décor stuff there and some buen preicos!) Plus if you’re only going for some stuff it’s like the smaller version of Wal-Mart. And for me, it’s conveniently located five minutes away. Love love love it!
I will share my shopping deals in tomorrow’s post but I would love to know: What was your best find on Black Friday? What did you want to get and how much did you get it for? This bargainista loves deals I can’t wait to read all your comments!

Another great shopping tool!

This is just another great tool to help you with your Holiday shopping. Spinvox converts voice into text so you can share your fab finds with your amigas and familia that is also shopping with you. My SIL and I are huge bargain shoppers I can totally see us splitting up at a store and using this to keep in touch with holiday finds and bargains. Especially on a chaotic day like Black Friday it would be great. With crowds and noise you may or may not hear it ring. And if it’s on vibrate you still may not hear each other well enough on the other line.
You can use this throughout the year as well to remind you of important events and tasks that you don’t want to forget.

Right now SpinVox is available to Alltell and Cincinnati Bell subscribers for a price of $5.99 a month for unlimited use. This service is also free for anyone who wishes to update their blog or social network. Another great way to use this! If you are interested in a free trial, let me know and I can get you in touch with someone. Just leave a comment. ;)

Stumped on Gift Giving?

I hate this time of year because of the gift giving can really get stressed out! It’s a huge project to get everyone on your list a fabulous gift without going broke. I wanted to share this cool website with you Top Ten Reviews. What makes this different from other gift guide sites is that it’s non-biased and not set up by a retailer. If you click on the Holidays tab and scroll down it shows you gift ideas for different people that may be on your list. For example “Recessionista”, “Geek Chic” “Senior Style” you can cover anyone from your BFF to your abuelita on this list! Let me know how you like this website! Is it easy to use? Would you go back to it? Have fun shopping!

Perfumed Lotion vs. Perfume

November 23, 2008 by Jai
Filed under Beauty, Holiday Gift Guide

So which do you prefer? I have both but I really haven’t been wearing anything lately. Because of allergies I stay away from both in the Spring/Summer months. I will wear light perfumed lotion sometimes though. But in the Fall/Winter I start trying my perfume on again. My perfume bottles last me YEARS that’s how little I wear them. I like light musky scents and my faves are:

Curve Crush and Star byBCBGirls

I like the collection of Bath and Body Works lotions. I love when they have their 5 for $20 deal. But again since I don’t wear them as much they last me forever. I do keep some lotion at my desk at work because the soap in the ladies room really dries out my hands.

Speaking of perfume the best place to buy perfume for men and women online is Fragrancenet.com. You get customer ratings and recommendations. Check it:

BCB GIRLS STAR perfume by Max Azria

DESIGN HOUSE - Max Azria

YEAR INTRODUCED - 2001

FRAGRANCE NOTES - apricot, jasmine, vanilla and amber.

RECOMMENDED USE - casual

  • in stock today
  • 100% genuine brand names

scent strength:  moderate
scent life:  6-10 hours
recommended use:  casual
recommended

I love that! It gives you the strength, scent life and their recommended use. It also tells you what’s in it so say if you like vanilla, jasmine and amber smell you’d like Star. I bought this back in 2001 when it first came out and have been a fan ever since! Department stores stopped carrying it so this is the site I go to when I run out!

How about you? Lotion vs. Perfume which are your favorite scents?

Hottie of the week #26

November 21, 2008 by Jai

Today’s hottie (I know I missed last week sorry ladies!) is Miguel Veloso a Portugese soccer player. Born May 11, 1986 his father was also a futbol player. This 5’11 cutie is just starting out so I’m sure we’ll be hearing much more from him soon. Doesn’t he look older than his age in this picture though?

Hair Horrors: Manic Panic Worst Product Ever!

November 19, 2008 by Jai

First I’ll give my disclaimer: I can be very hard headed when it comes to my hair. I give great advice about hair but I seem to never listen to my own advice!

So I have had my hair black for years. I was a medium golden brown (I call it the JLO brown) for about three or four years but I couldn’t deal with the maintenance so I just went back to black. I’ve been black for about five years.

I’ve been itching for a change. I wanted the red like Dulce Maria from RBD has. I’ve wanted this red for two years! So I go to my favorite hairdresser and let her know and she completely shot me down. In other words she told me it was too ghetto. She said I’d be one big red mess because it’s going to bring the red out of my skin tone. I have the same skin tone Dulce Maria has! But I said she’s right, everybody likes my black and if I can’t go red like I want I’m going to go blue black.

Guess how much she was going to charge me for a semi-perm blue black! $65! So I did take my advice and got a friend who’s good with hair to give me my blue black. We went to the professional beauty store got some products and did my hair. The hair dye was like blue ink so I was sure I finally got what I wanted. Nope! It’s dark black, not blue black. Should have left it alone right? Nope!

Went back to the store, and got some Manic Panic temp hair color in midnight blue. I really need to warn you about this product! I’ve used temp hair color before and it never was like this! I left it in for a lot longer than it said to. My bathroom was blue I’m talking sink, tub everything! My hands, my scalp, my face…you get the picture.

I wash and style like usual and two days later I put shine gloss in my hair and my hands are still turning blue! WTF! My hair is dry and yet I’m still losing hair dye. I wake up and have blue on my arm because I’m resting my hair on my arm as I sleep. Again, dry hair! What a waste of money! I run my hands through my hair and they come up blue.

If you’re considering a change don’t go with Manic Panic. Their product sucks. Temporary hair color is supposed to stay in for at least 8 weeks! It’s not supposed to come off as you style your hair. Now I’m just going to leave it alone for a while until I decide to go ahead and pay my hairdresser to do it. My problem is that I’m very particular. I want what I want. And if I pay $65 and I don’t get it, there’s going to be major problems! Have you had any hair horrors lately?? Please share in the comments!
