Spring 2009 Hair Trends
The new hair color for spring is peroxide blonde, a color that Christina Aguilera is known for. This trend for hair color may not be suitable for all Latinas. If you are an olive skinned brown eyed dark haired Latina this new color trend is definitely not for you.
Now why do I think this is a definite DON’T for Latinas? I’ll explain:
The amount of bottles of peroxide it’s going to take to get you to from dark haired to that shade of blonde which is almost white is unbelievable. Then when it’s done, you’re going to end up with crazy hair damage. I’m talking about breaking off, split ends and if you have curls that will just turn into a frizz ball. Trust me it’s just not worth it! And if you don’t use the bottles of peroxide you’ll end up with that “ghetto blonde” that I hate. Like an orange color. Not sexy!
So what can we do instead as a compromise? If you’re thinking of lightening up your hair this summer you can consider highlights. If you have dark hair, some caramel colored highlights would look very nice. Or some “red-lights” some red highlights would be really cute and would give your hair some definition. A friend of mine has this and is so cute! But red is so much harder to maintain and it tends to wash a bit faster than other colors.
If you want to go all out and change your hair color (like I do) there are a few colors out there to consider. I love what I call the “Jlo Brown” it will bring out your tan. It’s a nice medium golden brown with blonde highlights that Jlo is famous for. She’s gone a bit darker and a bit darker but has pretty much stayed around the same shade all these years.
I also love auburn brown like Ashley Simpson had. If you need something a little more cost effective this is a nice color. Your dark brown hair will grow in but not as bad as if you went really light. Think the look that Shakira has. But hey, if that’s the look you’re going for that’s great. Just check out her hair and see the frizz she almost always has. Even with professionals peroxide kills your hair. Trust me I don’t lie! I like a more polished look but can’t afford to get my roots done every two months. Way too much maintenance. But I’ve been raven-haired for way too long and sometimes a girl just needs a change m’ija. I’m beyond bored with my hair. So I’m going with the Auburn. Are you thinking of changing your hair color this season?

Today’s hottie of the week is Brazilian telenovela actor Rodrigo Santoro. He’s got a great smile and beautiful skin. He’s been acting in telenovelas since 1993 so he is a definite veteran! He was born August 22, 1975 in Rio de Janeiro and is a tall 6′ 2 3/4″. I think tall guys are sexy!
He also played the voice of Stuart Little in the Brazilian version. Sounds like he’s doing big things over in Brazil! But he’s also acted in the US movie Love Actually playing Karl and made his US debut in Charlie’s Angel: Full Throttle. He just broke up with his model girlfriend who he was with for four years. He’s up for grabs girlies! Who wants him?
Web site for Frizz Forecast
Do you have hair that likes to frizz? Well you can check out Naturally Curly for your free frizz forecast. (say that three times fast!) This would be great for those summer months where the humidity can really get overbearing. I would definitely use this to see if it’s worth it for me to straighten my naturally curly hair. It takes too much time for me to waste it if it’s only going to get frizzy. Enjoy and stay bella!Pantene Gives Back
Did you know it takes six ponytails to make a wig? Think of the possibility of donating your hair. You can make a difference in another woman’s life. I’ve always wanted to donate my hair but it’s always dyed and I believe you can only donate natural hair. Check out it for more details.

You Need a Team, Mami!

Recently I started going back to school (yuck-not by choice) and between that, work, home and of course blogging I have limited time. You definitely need to prioritize what’s important to you but also be willing to give up things that are not so important. (Except I need to watch my novelas, you already know!) So how do I get it all in? I have an amazing support system!
Right now on top of all this I’m raising money for March of Dimes, planning my son’s birthday party and in the middle of other projects. My fabulous amigas are helping me by proofing my essays for school, getting sponsorships for the walk (because they know I don’t have time but that it’s important to me) and brainstorming possible blog topics. My Mami doesn’t live in the same state that I do but remotely she is also helping me plan for my son’s birthday party.
I also am lucky to have an amazing husband who shares the workload with me. Not just in regards to our son but chores around the house. I came home yesterday to a clean house (but dirty dishes because in his words “I don’t do dishes”). But instead of complaining about the dishes I just felt happy that he took the time to clean up without being asked. That’s a big deal to me. Of course he doesn’t think that blogging should be on my list of things to do but hey, he’s got his Play Station and I have my blog it’s even!
The point is that the secret to being a Super Mami you have to have that team behind you. Even Batman had Robin (and the butler who helped him out with gadgets). Without them, Batman wouldn’t have been as effective in fighting crime. Recognize both your strengths and weaknesses. Where you are weak, don’t be afraid to ask for help. We can’t possibly do it all alone m’ija. Then there would be no time for that Time Out!

Mercedes-Benz NYFW Fall/Winter 09-Baby Phat
Also look at this dress, it’s got a hint of Asian influence in it.
Kimora and her girls looked fab!
The only thing I thought of when I was checking out the pictures of this collection is that I wish she would have included more curvier women. All of these women were extremely skinny! What’s wrong with including someone with a bit more curve that isn’t a size 0? Especially when your target market is mostly curvy, these clothes are made with curvy women in mind. Do you agree?
