My Jbandme Shoes

Lisa asked me to wear the shoes. I had to dress up for work today so I figure I take advantage and wear my shoes again and hope that hubby will take the picture. Well he actually took the picture and emailed it to me! I’m so proud of him! Here is a picture with my Jbandme shoes dressed up. Like I said you can probably dress them down with a cute pair of jeans and also wear them with a skirt. I get compliments on these shoes every time I wear them! And the heel is a good size/width.

Help Babies with Unicef+Pampers

I’m sure you Mami’s have heard about the program Unicef is running alongside Pampers to make sure that babies in less developed countries get their  tetanus vaccines. All you have to do to help is purchase the specially marked Pampers packages that are the same price as the regular Pampers packages. Just this one little effort on your part can help babies. One package=One vaccine.

As we all continue to support Pampers & UNICEF, I wanted to remind you to that the program runs only through May 1, 2009, where parents in the U.S. and Canada have the opportunity to help UNICEF protect moms and babies around the world against tetanus, by simply purchasing specially-marked packages of Pampers diapers and wipes. Each product purchased, triggers one life-saving vaccine.

This preventable disease claims the lives of approximately 128,000 infants and up to 30,000 mothers in less industrialized nations each year – that’s approximately one newborn death every four minutes. Together we can save a life! Check out Pampers web site for more details.

A new tool for Mami’s Time Out Fans!

I’m always on the lookout for things to increase the experience you get out of this web site. A while back I asked the question about forums and though I got good feedback I wanted to test the waters out first. With that I wanted to let you know about the new Mami’s Time Out toolbar! It’s a great toolbar that I designed myself with all the cool things I’ve found around the web. It includes a ticker of some of my fave RSS feeds (besides Hissip I just couldn’t find their feed!). It’s totally free and the search is powered by Google. There is absolutely no spyware it’s secure safe and private. I did my homework on this chicas. I’ve been using it for a few weeks before I introduced it to you guys. It also has an email notifier that you can hook up to any or all of your email accounts. I’ve also included your local weather and a great radio that plays Latin music!

Now here’s the best part: I’ve added a chat room to the toolbar! I know it’s a little 90’s but I figured this was a good way for me to test the waters and build a community around you great ladies! You can feel free use it at anytime to have your Chica Chat but I am also thinking of doing a once a week chat on a topic that’s related to the site such as Bargain Beauty, Product Reviews, Beauty Tips and Latin Culture! How does that sound for you? I was thinking of a half hour weekly chat and asking some blogging friends to join in and moderate on some great topics. If this works out I will look at getting a forum by the end of Summer. You will also find some shopping, cool gadgets with games, a TV and a twitter link, everything a Mami needs for her Time Out!

As always, if you have any questions, suggestions or tips contact me I look forward to hearing from you!

Another Great Reason to love MAC

You already know about my love affair with MAC Cosmetics. Their lip glosses are amazing, their foundation is great for women of color and their everyday collections are always moderately priced. I always leave the store happy with my purchases and I always get compliments on them. I know that if their store was closer by I would be so broke and so in trouble with hubby! Right now the nearest store is 45 minutes away which really sucks for me. I tend to go to the store just to get my color shade then I can order it online. Maybe I should write a letter….

Anyway there are a few reasons to love MAC. One is their Back to MAC program. This is a great program where you can return 6 empty containers and you get a free lipstick or slim shine of your choice. Of course this excludes their Viva Glam line because all proceeds go to AIDS and AIDS research. Now previously I thought this applies to just lip glosses but I just learned from a MAC cosmetics rep that it’s ANY empty container which includes lipstick, lip gloss, eye shadow, blushes (I’m not sure about foundation). You can return 6 empty ones to get the lipstick or slim shine color of your choice. I love free but you’re also being green! That’s just perfect: you are green, got yourself a free lipstick and you are also being a big beauty diva! There’s nothing better than free beauty that makes you feel good about yourself by recycling. MAC’s got it all figured out!

This Latina was also a member of the Cheetah girls. She’s got naturally curly hair but she usually wears it straight. On the right is a picture of her with her blonde long hair. On the left is her new hair cut and color I saw over at Blogamole. What do you think? Do you prefer her new or old look?

Hottie of the Week #37

Today’s hottie of the week plays Erik Delco on CSI: Miami-one of my must watch shows on TV. His name is Adam Rodriguez and this Puerto Rican and Cuban hottie is 6’ tall and born in Yonkers, NY on April 2, 1975. He first aspired to be a baseball player but when a high school injury sidelined him he turned his direction towards acting.

His dad was watching the Emmy’s one day when he recognized an old friend. This old friend happened to be Bill Clark who was the supervising producer In NYPD Blue. They were reacquainted and he ended up casting Adam in a guest starring role on NYPD Blue. Talk about a big break!

He’s auditioned for roles in Brooklyn South, Resurrection Blvd , Roswell and Felicity. He’s also appeared in music videos for Jennifer Lopez’s “If You Had My Love” and 50 Cent’s “Many Men”. He is rumored to be dating Ciarra Pardo which I guess is a singer but I couldn’t find much about her on the web. Enjoy your hottie of the week! I love his chiseled features! And I’m throwing a little extra at you this week. Check out the Jlo video!

Below you will find the 8 most popular mascaras from Sephora. They all range in price but I wanted to let you know I haven’t tried any of these mascaras. These are all picked through Sephora and what has sold. Ok so let’s get right to it! Here are the most popular mascaras:

Lancome Oscillation Vibrating Infinite PowerMascara $34 The only one of its kind, it vibrates and provides 7000 oscillations per minute with the press of a button. It only comes in black.

Bare Escentuals Buxom Lash $18. Voted 5 stars by Sephora customers, this mascara doesn’t clump or give you raccoon eyes. Would probably be perfect for summer! This one also only comes in black.

Dior Diorshow Mascara $24. Lots of fashionistas rave about this mascara. It gives you glamorous cat walk eyelashes and comes in black, royal blue, chestnut and plum.

Sephora Brand Lash Stretcher $16 This new mascara by Sephora is a lengthening and curling mascara and has the bent lash brush for maximum results.

Benefit BadGal Waterproof Mascara $19. This one has been showing up on lots of lists. It’s a great waterproof mascara that stays put but comes off with minimal effort. In waterproof it comes in black but in the regular mascara it comes in plum and royal blue as well.

Lorlac Special Effects Mascara $22. This one is a double ended wand that has primer on one side and defining and lengthening mascara on the other.

Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara $14. This mascara comes in black and a brown black. It’s smudge proof for up to 24 hours and is great for contact lens wearers.

Imiju Fiberwig Tiny Sniper $15. This mascara is designed for the smaller lashes on the outer corners of your eye. It’s got a tiny wand to reach those hard to reach areas and is probably used best with your regular mascara. I wouldn’t replace it with this one. It comes in pure black.

Well there you have it chicas! If you are looking for a new mascara here are 8 of the bestsellers! Stay bella!

Cuidado Con El Angel Recap III

March 25, 2009 by Jai

This week has been pretty juicy on Cuidado Con El Angel. There has been two weddings, not including the one that spilled over from the prior week. Omar is getting more obsessive with Marichuy and she still doesn’t want to admit that she has feelings for Juan Miguel. They ended up being part of one of the weddings which sparked some more feelings between them. Apparently now Juan Miguel and Blanca have joined forces to try to get Omar and Marichuy. Blanca has decided (I’m not sure when) that Omar is the man for her. Juan Miguel has always admitted his feelings for Marichuy so together they are trying to make them see that they do have feelings for each other and that Omar really doesn’t love Marichuy. Another mess!

I have to say that the dress that Marichuy wore at that wedding was absolutely fabulous! She had a purple dress and it looked satin-y. It was a perfect complement to her light complexion and dark hair. Her makeup was also fabulous. The silvery purple on her eyes were just perfect! I need to find that dress is absolutely gorgeous.

Well anyway….Juan Miguel and Omar were arguing (as usual) over Marichuy at her house. Mind you at this point Omar and Marichuy are engaged for the second time. So she’s had enough of them fighting and said she didn’t want to be with either of them and kicked them out. She also needs to make up her mind. She’s engaged and then she’s not, she’s with one then she’s not. Seriously girl you can’t get all engaged off and on like that in one week goodness! So she tells her producer Amador that she wants to continue to be an actress because she’s not getting married anymore and she’s staying in the city.

You can check out Cuidado Con El Angel’s unofficial web site to comment and view the novela. Also, if you want to know how it ends you can check out Wikipedia. It’s definitely a spoiler! But at least it seems like the novela is going to get good. It has already ended in Mexico. I hate that they start them earlier in other countries and the US gets it later on. Esmas also has the last few episodes online. Check them out if you want. :) My other novela Las Tontas, has already finished and started ten months prior to its start in the US!

Las Tontas No Van Al Cielo Recap VI

The storyline with Charlie and his HIV status is really heartbreaking. He’s only a teen. And the possibility that he may have infected his girlfriend Lucia is even more heartbreaking. They are still waiting on the results of her HIV test but Santiago and Lucia have had great conversations on the topic of HIV.

The main storyline about this whole mess between Santiago, Candi, Alicia, Patricio and Marissa is getting even more messy. Like one reader, Blanca, said before in comments: Alicia and Marissa should form a club of our men like Candi. Not only are both Santiago and Patricio after Candi, the girl doesn’t make up her mind which one she’s going to be with and both Alicia and Marissa want their men back.

Well Marissa is absolutely nuts. She has now conspired with Alicia about this baby. They got a plan that they will both leave the country and Marissa will have the baby abroad. Then Marissa is going to pretend to be Alicia to come back into the country and then Alicia would pretend to have adopted the baby. She is hell bent on revenge against Santiago by giving the child up for adoption so that Santiago never sees the child again. Crazy part about it is that Alicia is going to have the child and she’s going to try to use the child to keep Patricio with her. She doesn’t seem to care that Patricio has two baby mommas. These two are crazy. I’m sure in pure novela style that’s not going to be able to be a secret for too long. It’s going to come out sooner or later that the son Alicia adopted is Santiago’s.

Not only is Marissa hell bent on ruining Santiago’s life, but she’s also hell bent on ruining Candi’s. Candi had an anxiety attack while arguing with Marissa in her office, told her to call a doctor before she fainted and Marissa just left without saying a word! She’s really gone off the deep end. She is now hoping to ruin the Institute that Candi built by turning her employees against her. She figures no employees, no Institute.

On a side note, I loved how they mixed my old novela Al Diablo Con Los Guapos with this one. Millie was in about two episodes and brought Luciana there to get help from the Institute. I thought it was pretty cool how they continued the story like that. I remembered the scene with Candi from Al Diablo Con Los Guapos. They must have aired in Mexico at the same time.

I’m dying to find the results of Lucia’s HIV test and also see how it’s going to affect her relationship with Charlie. I also want to see how this whole baby fiasco turns out.
