Ritmo Y Pasion and BMG Closing Virtual Doors

If you are a Spanish music lover like me you may be a member of Ritmo Y Pasión which is a subsidiary of BMG. You get music CDs at a good price and collect points toward free CDs. Well BMG including Ritmo Y Pasión is being discontinued. They are now changing to Your Music which is advertising free shipping and no automatic shipping. I must say I hated the automatic shipping. Sometimes they sent me a CD I already had! I just used my glue gun to close it and return to sender! (shh!!)

Well Ritmo Y  Pasión members will be able to shop through May 31, 2009 and you have until May 31, 2009 to redeem your certificates or free CD’s for any points you may have earned. They have discontinued the benefit of earning points as of January 31, 2009.

I took a quick look at Your Music and all CD’s are $6.99. Not bad. You get a queue similar to Netflix where you choose your CDs and you get one CD shipped per month for $6.99. You can add remove and shuffle around your queue as much as you’d like. The $6.99 fee is a flat monthly fee so I advise if you do use this service that you have at least one CD in your queue because you’re going to get charged regardless.I also checked out their Latin Music selection and was not impressed. I’m assuming that for that price they can’t offer any of the latest releases. I just saw a lot of greatest hits and Salsa Hits, Merengue Hits, etc. They had some popular artists but most looked regional. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with Mexican music but they definitely need more of a variety of Latin music. I doubt that I will be continuing my membership with Your Music. I will probably take a closer look at it towards the end of my Ritmo Y Pasíon membership but I’m probably going to stick to Amazon and iTunes.
