SUBWAY Restaurants just partnered with the NIH (National Institutes of Health) to launch NIH’s educational program We Can! (which stands for Ways to Enhance Childrens Activity & Nutrition)  The partnership was launched on March 25 in Washington DC with a P.E.P rally (Play More, Eat Right and Push Away the Screen) at the D.C. Armory. Olympian-soccer legend, Tabare “Tab” Ramos hosted the event, alongside boxing champion, Laila Ali and Jared Fogle. The PEP rally had kids moving and playing popular and educational games like basketball, soccer, and Energy In/Energy Out, a tag-like game that emphasizes the importance of energy balance for a healthy weight. Children were also taught about the importance of energy balance and maintaining a healthy weight in an effort to battle juvenile obesity, primarily for kids ages 8-13 years old.
Some kids from the Latin American Youth Center were at the event as well, where they participated in all the sports and activities with soccer player Tab Ramos who also informed them and educated them on healthy living and eating.
Here is a clip with Tabare Ramos explaining the We Can! Buen Provecho!

  1. that is great news. Subway when selecting properly is the best Fast Food place to take the kids. Once or twice a year, they may pick another fast food chain. I know what fast food help me get….. #’s unwanted :)

I agree! I doesn’t help that my hubby has been the same size since high school! He makes me sick. :) Sadly, he doesn’t eat Subway. So I usually have Subway for lunch. And when we go to the fast food places I try to stick to the wraps and stuff. Definitely all that fast food gives us unwanted #’s!
