Bellydance and get toned all over

bellydanceI’m always on the lookout for fun ways to work out. My friends and I have been walking which is nice. You kind of chat away and catch up with each other and next thing you know you’ve walked three miles in one hour. It’s great! I’ve also talked about Zumba a Latin dance inspired workout that looks like a fun time!

Inspired to be fit and sexy and bellydance like Shakira (I like to call her Shaki) I want to shimmy away my belly in a fun way. I checked out Bellydance Fitness for Beginners – Arms, Abs, Hips, Buns & Thighs and I didn’t even think that those moves people do with their arms while belly dancing is actually toning their arms. My arms hips and thighs KILLED! I was shocked at the amount of resistance I was getting by doing these moves. There was a move on the floor that toned your entire lower half that I just couldn’t do because of my ankle injury. My ankle couldn’t support my weight.

The only thing I didn’t like about this DVD is that even though it says it’s for beginners they really don’t take the time to show you the different moves. It’s sink or swim. But for a more intermediate belly dancer that knows a little something this could be ideal. And on sale for less than $10 you really can’t beat that!

I’m definitely going to check out some more Bellydancing DVD’s. I mean I’m sure I’m not the only one who wants to work it like Shaki. Even Beyonce loves Shaki!

I have some belly dance DVD’s and also a CD with music to Bellydance to. I took a bellydance class last year and loved it. I even have a couple of the scarves with the coins to tie around my waist. I love the sound of the coins as you shake your hips. Bellydance is so much fun! Enjoy it.

When I lived in NYC, I took BellyDancing classes as often as I could. I need to find a class in Hotlanta.

I take a zumba class at our local YMCA and they have started belly dancing classes here too, the teacher is great she teaches you all the moves so that you can go home and try to practice. Both of the classes are really good workouts.

@Mami Dearest: Do you have any DVDs to recommend?
@Alicia: I’m sure you can find some in Atlanta. Good luck!
@blanca: Sounds like a lot of fun. I’m afraid of the commitment of joining the Y.

I took some classes last year too! There is a great place in Midtown that has a variety of classes, from beginners to advanced. The classes are $10 each but if you get a package its about $7 per class. Thought that was a great rate! Anywho, the teachers also select students to dance in different settings outside of the school if they are gd enough and they even get paid for it. Now how hot is that?!
