Cuidado Con El Angel Recap

CCEA-Marichuy-y-Juan-Angel-cuidado-con-el-angel-1917659-954-694

With only one week left of Cuidado Con El Angel it is getting very fast paced. Ana Julia has just lost her mind and is completely obsessed with Juan Miguel and I’m so upset that she put Mayita in the middle of it. Ana Julia told Mayita that she is expecting Juan Miguel’s child and he doesn’t want it. She is nutso!! She’s definitely expecting but it’s with Amador.

Vicente has come back to try to win back the love of Rocio but finds she’s with someone else. In order to get some money because he’s absolutely broke, he teamed up with Ana Julia and Amador to kidnap Rafa, Marichuy’s blind BFF and son of a police officer. When he called Juan Miguel for the ransom payment, Juan Miguel recognized the voice of Vicente. Rafa was returned safe and sound and they never caught Amador and Vicente. But Amador stole Vicente’s part of the money to pay his own debts.

Marichuy can now see due to the hard work of Juan Miguel. Marichuy found out that Pedro Cisneros and Juan Miguel were one and the same and was upset. She was ready to leave with her baby but then she changed her mind last minute. But she still doesn’t want anything to do with Juan Miguel. Rocio confronted her and let her know exactly how she felt about the whole situation. I’ve never seen Rocio act that way she’s usually so sweet but she went off on Marichuy! Sometimes though your friends need that. :)

Rafa is going to go through the same surgery as Maricuy. Marichuy’s new friend a doctor helping her continue with her physical therapy study has confessed that he likes her. With one week left I’m anxious to see how these pieces fall together!

First Recap of Un Gancho Al Corazon

UN_GAN~1

I missed the very first episode of Un Gancho (A Hook to the Heart) but it was very easy to catch on. I liked it right away I thought it was very cute. Sebastian Rulli plays a former race car driver widow who owns a business. He ends up adopting three kids who didn’t want to be separated by adoption. A 16 year old boy a teen girl and a preschool girl. He gets Monita a job as his secretary/personal assistant.

Valentina aka Monita is a good boxer up until she hurt her hand. In order to keep money coming in so that she can continue to take care of her boyfriend’s mom (because her boyfriend is a loser who doesn’t work) she finds herself a job at Mauricio’s company. Sparks fly from the beginning even though they are both in relationships. Her boyfriend is also her manager that is trying to hook her up. He’s hilarious I love his mother as well, Nieves who is played by Ana Maria.

Laisha Wilkins plays the girlfriend of Mauricio and we already are not supposed to like her. The outfits she wears are fab though. She doesn’t like the fact that he adopted those orphan children. She also doesn’t like the fact that Valentina is working for Mauricio. As pretty as she is, she is very insecure. Possibly because they have been dating for two years and Mauricio hasn’t proposed or doesn’t have marriage on his mind.

Agustin Arana plays Jeronimo, Mauricio’s cousin and also works at the company. I’ve seen Agustin play a few parts in novelas as well as the small part he played in Las Tontas. He always seems to play the same type of slimy character. But he is nice to look like even though he always looks a bit scruffy. I see him dirty dealing in the future.

My favorite character has got to be Valentina’s gaudy BFF. Now that is a character! And her hair is so cute! She reminds me of a modern version of Peggy from Married with Children. The clothes and hair look like they were inspired by Peggy. I would watch just to watch her! lol!

This novela has got me hooked (sorry I couldn’t help it!). I will be definitely watching this one! How did you feel about the first week? Any Las Tontas fans watching Un Gancho?

Raising a Bilingual Child

Raising a bilingual child is important to me. Not only because my parents never learned English after they immigrated from Dominican Republic , but being bilingual myself I feel is it a great tool to take advantage of in the workplace. I am very grateful to my parents for teaching me their native tongue. It just opens the door to discovery of my heritage and culture. Even just listening to Spanish music I am grateful for the fact that I can not only dance to the beat but understand the words to the songs.

It is important to me that what I have learned gets passed down to my child. Isn’t that the whole idea behind parenting? My husband is fluent in Spanish and his mother never learned English either but he doesn’t speak Spanish as much as he should; especially around our son. So it is totally up to me to teach my son Spanish. I definitely want him to be able to have a conversation with his grandparents when he gets older.

He’s about two and a half now and I have noticed that he’s getting pretty good at English. He’s speaking in almost complete sentences so I figure this is a good time to start teaching him Spanish. I have started with body parts since he knows those pretty well in English.  As a bonus I can point at it while I say the words and he seems to be catching on and taking an interest. Now I just point to his eyes mouth or nose and he knows exactly what the word is in Spanish.

How important is it for you to have a bilingual child? Do you have any tips or tricks for raising a bilingual child? Share in the comments!

Last Recap of Las Tontas No Van Al Cielo

las tontas

In my last recap of Las Tontas No Van Al Cielo, Charlie and Lucia get back together but Charlie is asked to continue his video research of people living with AIDS and is going to spend some time in Germany. They were trying to go together but Santiago basically said hell no!

Chayo and Eduardo seconds from getting divorced got back together. Santiago and his investigators found Marisa in London and when he confronted her she chose to leap off the balcony. In the hospital minutes from death she says the words "Alicia" and "bebe". They continue on to find Alicia to tell them the truth about the baby and in the meantime Santiago tries to ask Patricio for a DNA test to prove that Patito is his son. Patricio gets upset and refuses to do so. He calls a family lawyer after realizing that Alicia did something illegal by having a birth certificate instead of adoption papers. Alicia is found and she tells Patricio what she did. She ends up living at home with Menyo and Candy because her man dropped her and she has no money. She gets arrested.

Paulina, Santiago’s ex, steals the baby while they are out at Charlie’s going away party. He and Patricio follow her and find her at a hotel. She falls into an open elevator shaft running away from Patricio and Santiago. She doesn’t die but instead ends up in a wheelchair and makes her ex lover take care of her. He was not having that but she threatened to go to the police with the mafia boss’ death.

Santiago and Candi got back together. (You know you saw that coming!) Patricio falls for the family lawyer he contacted in the beginning.

And in true novela fashion, the novela ended with Santiago and Candi getting married. FINALLY! I liked the dress she wore in the first wedding she was going to have with Santiago better than the final one. Patricio was there with his lawyer girlfriend. The reception music was playing the Las Tontas theme music. They looked very happy! This couple was very sweet and playful and I’m sure we’ll all miss them on Las Tontas! Stay tuned check out what I felt about the premier of Un Gancho Al Corazon.

Crest Pro Health Launches Tu Crest

Crest Pro-Health is an amazing toothpaste that I had a chance to try out. I found the toothpaste was a bit different in texture than others I have tried (a bit heavier) but it was also very minty. Definitely made my teeth feel clean. Extra clean. Like  I just left the dentist and I had a great cleaning clean. To the point where I almost felt like I flossed as well. I also have sensitive teeth and I feel like its helped with the sensitivity to cold. I don’t have a sensitivity to heat. But with this warm weather coming ice cream is a staple at my house. I definitely need to have something to protect my teeth through the cold!

Crest Pro-Health is launching a web site for Hispanics called TuCrest with podcasts on oral higiene, and bloggers corner in English and Spanish. I do want to mention how important dental health is. Studies show that poor dental health has a link with premature babies. ( I didn’t believe it either until my ob/gyn asked to see my teeth!) And you should know that as Latinos we are at higher risk of having a premature baby and I am the mami of a preemie. I have been taking great care of my teeth and also making sure I don’t miss those appointments at the dentist. I know it’s not everyone’s favorite place to be but it’s something that has to be taken care of.

If you want to try Crest Pro Health out for yourself I’ve got four travel/trial sizes to share with you! If you want to see what all the hype is about the first four people to leave a comment saying why they’d like to try Crest Pro Health get it. It’s that easy!
