Julio Iglesias Jr. was born on February 25th in Madrid, Spain to the Spanish music icon Julio Iglesias and the elegant Isabel Preysler. The Iglesias family moved to Miami when he was a young boy.
His exotic features helped his professional career take shape as a model for important designers such as Versace and as an actor in the US television series Out of the Blue. However, Julio’s real passion is music and in 1995 he decided to risk his comfort zone and release his first album Under My Eyes, an album of rock and soul, totally in English. In 2002, Julio decided to return to his roots and native language by recording Tercera Dimension (Third Dimension), a Spanish rock album.
Most recently, Julio has been promoting his third album “Por La Mitad” (Time after Time), consisting of his interpretation of famous artists past hit songs sung in Spanish, such as Cindy Lauper’s Time After Time (Por la Mitad), Faith (Fe) by George Michael, Angel (Angel) by Robbie Williams, The Promise You Made (Promete Decir la Verdad) by Robin Cock, his own compositions: It’s so Difficult (Es Tan Dificil), How Can I Escape (Como me puedo Escapar), and The Way I Want You, the song that won him the competition on the 2008 CMT reality show Gone Country.
In Spain, Julio participated in the comedy show, El Club de Flo (Flo’s Club) and took part in the Spanish version of Dancing with the Stars called Mira Quien Baila, one of the top rated shows in Spain.
The elegance, distinction and style of Julio Iglesias Jr. helped him to be chosen as the image for the Spanish market of the brand of Swiss watches Bassel , he also represents the new advertising campaign for the Garcia Baquero brand of cheeses. Meanwhile, the underwear firm Soy Underwear not only uses his image, but also launched a collection with his name, designed by him and inspired in a tribal tattoo that Julio bears on one of his arms.
In 2008, Julio starred in the indie film The Music of You and looks to continue to work on his acting career. Most recently, you can catch him on ABC in the reality show Superstars, trying his physical abilities next to high performance sports people in the paradisiacal landscapes of the Bahamas. He will also participate as a judge on the music competition reality show Batallas de Las Americas (The Battle of the Americas), searching for the new mega pop star of Spanish music, which will air in 14 countries including the USA thru Mega TV.
What do you think about Julio Jr? Does he remind you of his father Julio Sr or Enrique? I think Jr here has a bit more edge and muscle to him. Kind of like it. Thoughts?
