So I’m Back to Black…

With the risk of sounding like Amy Winehouse (Love the Back to Black album) I have to share that after my huge hair disaster I have gone back to black. I went from having long down to there dark locks to chopped and red. Then one day I looked in the mirror and realized my new color and cut looks like my mom’s signature color and cut. Not a good look for me. So I went right back to where I started! Here’s the timeline…

This is the original hair with nothing done to it yet. Pretty huh? In hindsight I should have just left it alone! But you know how it is, you get bored and start messing with your hair. Then you get…

red

This was after I paid a professional to get a medium golden brown. After the hair disaster I ended up with two shades of red and no curls. I loved the non curl look but the red…not so much!

Then I gave up and just chopped it!!

Afterwards it grew in nice but the roots were getting to be too much and there was no way I could get that color again. And this is definitely a look my Mami has been rocking since I was a teenager. So….

This is my latest look. I think I like my hair dark. Isn’t it funny how I just went full circle? Maybe this summer I’ll get some highlights. What do you think? Are you thinking of changing your look?

I just wanted to add that all these changes happened between April and October! I’ve been busy huh?

Thanks! I think the most I will do is highlights otherwise I think I will stay dark for a good while.

Back to black for both of us! Your hair looks great now! But honestly I think you looked good in all pictures (I can’t believe you asked for golden brown and got red though! Crazy). Change is good but it is always nice to give your hair a rest and go natural for a while =o) That’s what I’m doing as well and I am loving it!

Thanks I do like it better dark than the other colors I’ve had. I haven’t seen pictures of you dark yet…are you going to share?

I like the new color and cut. So much easier in teh morns and now that you’re in school. I’m like you I’ve had teh full spectrum, including blonde and yes BRIGHT red (not a gd look in a legal office btw LOL) but now I am back to dark brown (full circle like you). It saves me money and its easier to maintain.

I am planning on trying AnotherMaria’s suggestion with vinegar soon! Will let you ladies know how that turns out!

I would love to try the bright red but I don’t think my office can handle it. I had bright red highlights once and they asked me if I did it like that purposely. It was pretty funny. Going back dark is definitely easier to maintain. My hair is naturally that dark so I don’t have to worry about roots. Good luck with the vinegar!
