When we first moved in a few years ago the kitchen had new cabinets and neutral countertops but a 70’s floor. So we painted the kitchen and redid the floor. We also switched out the knobs in the cabinet, the old white knobs there previously really made the kitchen look dated. And when our old 70’s stove finally gave up on us, we got a new one.
Our budget for this project was $750 and I really wanted to do new countertops but that was going to cost us close to $2000 so that was out of the question. What we ended up doing was getting a new backsplash and an over the stove range hood with microwave. It really freed up the space on the countertop which we really don’t have too much to begin with. We also got a new faucet that hubby has yet to replace but hopefully will do soon or I will have to call a plumber. Since he’s got the old faucet kind of off you have to rig it a certain way to close it. It’s starting to get annoying. But I really can’t complain. He usually has attention issues when it comes to finishing projects and he’s done really well at finishing the projects around the house. We have been concentrating on doing things with the least amount of money that gives us the biggest impact. I think we achieved this in the kitchen. The backsplash looks great and so does the hood range. It will definitely be a plus when we go to sell!
