August #LowesCreator Challenge | Energy Efficiency
Disclosure: I am a member of the Lowe’s Creative Ideas Creators & Influencers Network and receive a Lowe’s gift card to complete my projects. However, all ideas, opinions, & experiences are entirely my own.
We all want our house to look pretty and something like adding an energy efficient appliance may not be something at the top of your list. An energy efficient appliance can truly save you money in the long run and sometimes you just have to take the plunge.
When we moved into our house, we had to deal with a house that was built in the 20’s (loving the gumwood trim and original details!) but hasn’t been renovated since the 70’s (hated the green floor in the kitchen and green toilet upstairs with matching sink!)
My upstairs bathroom toilet was really horrid. Besides the fact that it was 70’s green it really clashed with the whole beachy light blue and white theme we have going on in there. The gold details also hurt my feelings. I couldn’t take it with the dated details. Slowly but surely we have replaced the fixtures in there. The last two things to go was the sink and toilet.
I also didn’t realize how huge the green toilet was. Once it had to be fixed I figured it was perfect time to let it go. I didn’t even realize the toilets at Lowe’s were so inexpensive! We bought a great new energy efficient toilet. It’s amazing how much water the old green monster used each time you flushed. Between the size, color and water usage….it was time to let it go.
So excited that we had money left in the budget to also buy some new knobs for the bathroom cabinets. All we need to do is get a new sink and I would love to use this from Lowe’s to darken the cabinets. I love the size of the cabinets but now that we’ve gone silver in the bathroom it is the icing on the cake to darken them and finish modernizing the upstairs bathroom.
This shows that even on a budget you can get things done. You’re just going to have to do them one at a time. Slow and steady wins the race!
