Q&A With MyShoes.com
I was recently able to ask a few questions to Andrea Woroch, of Myshoes. I learned that she loves shoes just as much as I do! I must say when I am looking for a specific pair of shoes, this is one of the first sites I go to! Cuts your time in half! Enjoy!
What made you think about starting a site like Myshoes?
From our shopping experiences, we knew that the selection of shoes on the Web can be a bit overwhelming and we wanted to create a resource that offered all the options in one place and provided customized search settings with streamlined results. By utilizing our company’s discount coupon site, PromotionalCodes, we were able to apply a money-saving element with the coupon integration, which adds any coupon codes to the final price. By combining all these elements, we are able to help women will find the perfect pair of shoes at the lowest price quickly and easily. Plus, being mostly women in the office, shoes were the first thing to come up during our brainstorm!
How long has myshoes been live?
We officially launched myShoes.com this past February.
What is your ultimate goal regarding myshoes?
We want myShoes.com to be the first thought that comes to every woman’s mind when she thinks about shoes – - which could be a few hundred times per day (or is that just me?)!
How many pairs of shoes do you own?
Since becoming fully consumed by the launch of myShoes (I may be our site’s biggest fan!), I’ve added five pairs of shoes to my collection. When you are looking at and talking about shoes all day long, it’s hard to resist a cute pair of summery espadrilles or sexy heels – especially when there’s a great deal to be had. However, I try to keep my closet current and donate shoes that haven’t been worn to the local shelter.
What are some of this season’s trends? (include images if you can)
Summer is such a fun season for shoes! Here are three top trends:
Nudes: Shoes in nude hues are ultra flattering because the skin tone color creates a continuous line that makes legs look longer and leaner. Aim for a nude within a few shades of skin color. For night, nudes can shimmer with a touch of gold. Try nudes as peep-toe heels, sky-high platforms and caged sandals for a trendy look. Picture:
Michael Antonio Tinsley available for $48.
Oxfords: Menswear-inspired pieces are hot for summer. Think structured twills and relaxed separates like vests, trench coats, and trouser pants. You can get in on the trend with oxford shoes which are among the easiest of trendy shoes to wear.
Steve Madden Tuxxedo, a great flat style for $47
Charles David Canny Spectator offers a peep-toe and sling back style perfect for Spring & Summer weather –
Nautical: The Nautical trend is taking over with stripes and rope detail plus lots of the traditional red, white and blue colors. Look for gold metal details, rope-like accents, grosgrain ribbon trim and wood or cork soles – a great style for day.
Steve Madden Yachtt in Navy Blue (available at myShoes.com with an exclusive 20% off code for only $39!)
Mami’s Note: Aren’t those Michael Antonio’s hot for only $48! I’m looking for a hot pair of nude shoes! If you are looking for a new pair, you definitely need to check out this site! They will find it for you and for the best price!
Fabulous Idea for Shopping
So you all know about all these shopping sites like Shop it To Me and others that send you sales right to your email. But a coworker of mine showed me a genius way she keeps her fashion shopping list together. While perusing magazines, she cuts out the outfits and beauty products she would like to try and pastes them into a journal type of book. Something small enough to fit in her purse. When she’s ready to go shopping, she picks out from the book to see what she will buy. She then pulls the outfit out of the journal when she’s purchased it.
Seriously when she showed me her book I was amazed. How smart is that! The Butterflies Journal seen in the picture is very cute and inexpensive on Amazon
. All you do when you have time is cut what you would like out of the magazine and either give away or recycle the rest! How’s that for being green and beautiful! And as a bonus, I find out that I’m into some cute flirty dresses for spring, nude shoes and some pink nail polish from OPI. I find I’m more of a product girl than fashion girl. I wouldn’t have known that otherwise!
How do you organize your fashion shopping? Are you a traditional store shopper or an online shopper?
On My Shopping List: Hot Blazer
I have been trying to organize my closet due to this new dress code at work. It has changed from a relaxed office to a more business casual office. Which means, no jeans (which were the staple of my outfits) and no sneakers unless it’s a Friday. I’m taking this as a good opportunity to grow up a bit with my clothes. Check out this blazer! It’s adorable and fashionable while still being adult. And on sale for $44 it is definitely a deal! So what do you think about this blazer? With a nice cami underneath you can really work it!

Mami Fashion: Jessica Alba
I love Jessica Alba’s more relaxed every day look better than her glam red carpet moments. She just seems so put together yet casual. This is a great look for weekend running around or just hanging out with the kids!
NEON PINK SPAGHETTI STRAP STRETCH FITTED TUNIC TOP @ Amiclubwear Top…, $16
– lace leggings — Very, 18 GBP
Mudd Charm Flip-Flops, $16
Purple ‘Tori’ stud panel bowling bag, 40 GBP
Miami Nice Bangle Stack, 14 GBP
Mami Fashion: Karla Martinez
I absolutely love Karla Martinez from Despierta America. She always looks fab! Here’s a picture of her in a great coral dress. I just love coral I’m obsessed with it as a summer color. It’s the best color to show off your tan!
Here are some ideas…
Spring Accessories from Target
Target has launched two accessory collections from Eugenia Kim and Cynthia Vincent. Eugenia Kim’s collection consists of just hats while Cynthia Vincent collection includes shoes, jewelry and bags. Here are some of my faves.
From Eugenia Kim’s collection I love these two hats. At $16.99, this green hat is fab and cheap!
I also like this blue engineer’s hat. I’ve been getting into hat’s lately. This one is $14.99.
I don’t usually wear flats, but Cynthia Vincent’s flats are making me reconsider. They are fun and bright and would liven up any outfit! Perfect for a day where a four inch heel may not be appropriate but sneakers may not be cute enough for you. Aren’t these adorable? At only $24.99 they are definitely on my list. These are only available online 4/18/10-7/1/10.
Now you know I love my heels and these Gladiator wedges are right up my alley! Only $29.99 available online.
Picking the Best Sunglasses for Your Face
We all love the diva status that comes with wearing a great pair of shades. Even Jackie O was a diva in her day! You definitely don’t want to be a fashion don’t by wearing the wrong pair. Just because it looks fab on your BFF doesn’t mean it will look great on you as well. Here are some tips on picking the best frames for your face. You always want to go the opposite of your face shape.
1. Round face chicas need something angular. Oval will work too. Straight round shades are not a good idea and make your face even rounder.
2. Oval faced chicas (think Jessica Alba or Jennifer Lopez) are lucky in that they can rock whatever style they’d like. Make sure the pair is also wide enough for your face.
3. Squared face chicas (think of Salma Hayek) can rock the Jackie O glasses. Those big round shades are must for you! But the ones that Salma are wearing in this pic are hot as well. See how great they are width wise?
Here’s a cool site to find celebrity inspired shades! Stay bella!
French Elle Launches Plus Size Issue
I was happy to announce the launch of the website for Vogue Curvy and now French Elle printed it’s first Plus Size issue. I love that these women actually look real and not an unattainable version of what beauty is.
OneStopPlus.com, the world’s first and largest plus-size web-mall has long recognized real women’s desire for high-end fashion and has offered a quote on this recent piece of news:
“Between the recent launch of the Vogue Curvy site and now French Elle’s first plus-size issue, it gives more validation that plus-size is making its way into the high-fashion world. These significant steps show the acceptance and praise of plus-size women and we believe that even more U.S media will catch on to this ever-growing trend and continue to view beauty through real women,” said Nancy LeWinter, Editorial Director of OneStopPlus.com Group Division.
You can find the April issue at newsstands and everywhere magazines are sold! Have you picked this magazine up yet? What do you think?
Just Launched: Vogue Curvy
For us curvy chicas, there is now a website dedicated to us! Vogue Curvy is an extension of the Vogue brand. You can find a great site with how to’s, a blog, fashion and accessories, and lots more. They also feature Latina America Ferrera as a Curvy Icon. You go girl! They also have daily suggestions for outfits.
“We are extremely excited about the launch of Vogue Italia’s curvy site, as this is yet another example of the ways in which plus size women are being empowered and respected as trendsetters in the industry, as much as their size 0 counterparts. This is an important move and could be the catalyst for higher end designers and media to cater to real women,” – noted Stephanie, Sobel, President of OneStopPlus.com Group.
In case you don’t know, One Stop Plus is the world’s first and largest plus size web mall who can offer expert commentary on what this move means for the fashion industry. They have a great selection and I have written about them before in Tips for Dressing for your Curves.
No matter what size you are…stay bella!
Dressing up for spring
So I have this love/hate relationship with dresses. Not too sure why. Maybe because when I was younger I wasn’t allowed to wear pants due to my religion. So when I became of age and chose my own path, all I owned was pants. Not only that but the dresses that I did own were horribly destroyed during a move. Recently though, I’ve decided to become more girly again and try dresses out. I wore a dress to a holiday party and my hubby’s 30th surprise party (which was a blast by the way!) and since lightening didn’t strike I figured maybe dresses are ok to wear again, at least once in a while.
I do own a sweater dress that I received as a birthday gift but I just hate tights and stockings. Always have and always will. But this spring, as soon as the snow melts I may be making some dress purchases. I need some staples. A cute hanging out with the girlies dress (hellooooooo diva night!) A nice shirt dress for work and some cute hanging out dresses. My fashionable new year’s resolution is to show off these legs of mine that are actually enviously skinny! Now I’m wondering why I hide the skinniest part of my body. Hmmmmm….
