Taking the last two weeks off blogging was a great way for me to get all those last minute holiday things done. It’s been a hectic holiday season and to be honest, I’m just so glad it’s all over and behind us! I usually take advantage of that nice lull between Christmas and New Years to reflect on the year and start setting some goals for the New Year.
They say that most people are hoping to work on their fitness and health when it comes to New Year’s Resolutions. I don’t know who “they” are, but they seem to know a lot. I tend to avoid the gym the first week or two of the year because people do go hard at first.
I’m not much on New Year’s Resolutions, although I did join in on the New Month’s Resolutions monthly link up that Globetrotting in Heels led in 2015. That was definitely fun and it was more of a to-do list for every month to keep me going on the general goals for the year.
If I had a word to recap last year, it would be Learning. I had so many trainings to do for work throughout the year, a three month class from January-March, seminars in August, some Dale Carnegie training which was 8 weeks long that ended right before the holidays. At the time there was just so much to do that I didn’t realize that this was the reason I was too tired to blog. Reading 87 pages a week was most of my 2015! It was nuts!
This year I’m hoping to be more organized. I have purchased a life planner and plan to use it differently than how I’ve been using planners in the past. I usually just use the monthly section for bill organizing. In addition to that, this year I will be using the weekly sheets to meal plan for the week along with any to-do items that have to be done throughout the week. The 20 minutes I spent on Sunday night after the kids went to bed was so worth it as I’m right on track this week! I’m also trying to declutter and save some cash in order for us to be able to sell our current home and purchase our new home this year. No more makeup purchases for me. Well ok, unless it’s like a limited edition item. Otherwise, that’s it. Especially since I saw this and thought it was so me….
So instead of waiting to get back to my size 8 jeans to be cute and fashionable again, I’ve decided that I’m instead going to purchase new things for my size 12 body. I’m laying out my clothes at night like I used to and I already feel more put together in the mornings.
I know what you’re saying…”Girl these sound like resolutions!” They do right?? I just don’t wait until the beginning of the year to change things that need to be changed or react to things. I do it as I go. Monday is like a New Year for me every week. New week, new changes, new growth! If you don’t have anything in mind to work on for this year, at least keep an open mind for a general growth.
I have a confession to make. I almost said “eff all this” and wasn’t planning on blogging in 2016. I just felt super overwhelmed with everything going on. But I took a breath, planned it all out, and as long as you guys read my posts I will keep blogging away!
I’d love to hear from you! Do you have any resolutions or items you’re working on this year? What brings you over to my piece of the internet?
