This time of year the weather here in Rochester, NY is like a rollercoaster. It’s up and down and all around all in one day! Sometimes it can rain, warm up and get sunny, then back to rain all in one day! And it’s always cooler by the lake. (Guess who lives by the lake?)
How do you even get dressed for all that?
The answer is layers. Lots of cute layers. My outfits for work are completely different…well not completely but there are pieces I don’t wear to work based on the dress code. I try to make 80% of my closet both work and weekend appropriate. That’s pretty hard to do! But I live in maxi dresses in summer, which can easily be worn to work with a cardigan or blazer over it. I’m really trying to work on my comfy chic dress code. So that’s my focus this summer.
First on my list is a cute and comfy pair of espadrilles. That I can wear all summer to everything. **Keep reading I think I found a pair!!**
Old Navy’s soft pants are everything. I wore a pair on Mother’s Day with some flats, a tank and a blazer. Super comfy and put together. And I can wear this to work! (See the pattern here?)
I need at least one more pair of these soft pants! These are part of my essentials for spring and summer. I found some on sale at Kohl’s. These printed Jennifer Lopez ones are pretty awesome too! I would pair it with this high low tank. Actually I’d pair anything and everything with this high low tank!
Maxi dresses are always on my shopping list. I like to buy a few every year. Depending on the style you can wear it to special occasions, work or chasing after the kids. This lavender and teal one would be great for anything!
The right accessories can dress it up or down. And for $14.99, sign me up!
This jumpsuit with crotchet detail and pockets needs to be in my closet. Especially when it’s looser in the top to hide my belly. I don’t know about you, but my belly is my biggest problem area. I really need to work out…but that’s another post.
The wedge sandals shown here are perfect. Wedge sandals are on my list too. There’s a denim pair that I saw in one of my favorite magazines that I added to my Fashion Bible. I’m totally on the hunt for those!
This pair of shoes from River Island knock out two things on my list for me, they are wedges and espadrilles. In a classic neutral color, I could wear this with most things. If not all!
Writing down a list of shopping essentials each season keeps me on budget. It also keeps my closet working hard without the dreaded “I’ve got nothing to wear” because I don’t have two things that match!
