Daddy Yankee’s Talento de Barrio Movie

Hubby and I had a movie night the other night and we watched Daddy Yankee’s movie Talento de Barrio. I am a huge Daddy Yankee fan so I had a lot of high hopes for the movie. The soundtrack is bananas my favorite Daddy Yankee songs to date come from that CD. Of course this movie debuted in theatres in Puerto Rico but it did not debut in the theatres here in the states. It went straight to video. I was a bit dissappointed but being that he is not at the height of his popularity like he was a few years back I guess it’s to be expected.

The one thing that irritated me is that the DVD automatically played with voice over in English. Hubby tried to watch it that way but I couldn’t take it. We had to go to the settings to get it to play in it’s original version-in Spanish. So we finally get it to play in Spanish and we start watching it and it’s a pretty good movie. It’s like a Puerto Rican version of 8 mile so you will see violence in this movie. But, unlike other movies you don’t see any nude scenes or sex scenes which is nice if you plan to watch with the older kids. It is rated R for violence though.

Daddy Yankee plays Edgar Dinero who is a top level drug dealer with a heart that wants to get out of the street life. He turns into a rapper but just can’t escape the hood. In real life, he was actually shot in the knee which is what prompted him to really pursue reggaeton. He does have a love interest in the movie but that is kept pretty clean. The only thing hubby didn’t like was that the way the story wrapped up.

To tell you the truth I was a bit disappointed. Like I said I am a huge fan and wanted to see something more. But it was a great story and showed a lot of promise. Too bad he couldn’t release it a bit sooner when people were really checking for him.

The soundtrack definitely does not dissappoint though!

Sex & The City DVD: No doubt this was a great movie follow up to the hit TV series! For less than $20 at Amazon, it’s definitely a must for someone on your gift list!

Moving on to accessories Forever 21 is one of my favorite stores for clothes and accessories. I prefer to shop online instead of at the store because the store is usually a mess! I know what my size is and how their clothes run so it’s safe for me to shop online. Either way if I do need to return something I can always go to my nearest store to return it.
