Spring is here…even though in Western NY it doesn’t really feel like it…but it’s time for some spring cleaning! Spring cleaning is easier when you break it down into smaller parts and fit it into your regular home cleaning routine. I try to clean up, donate and toss items this time of year to keep my home from over flowing with stuff.
To be honest, I haven’t done a serious spring cleaning since my youngest was born. I feel like I had it together more as a first time mom and now I’m that hot mess mom that barely gets by on a daily basis. This is mostly to do with the fact that my oldest was the perfect baby. My youngest not so much. If their personalities were switched I would have probably just had the one. Yes it’s that bad.
Now that we are packing up I’ve been tackling one space at a time to clean. So far I’ve donated three trash bags to charity full of older bed linens and toys that my kids outgrew. I also threw out about a trash bag full of broken and missing toy pieces, and gave away three grocery bags of beauty items that I didn’t need anymore.
I also clean my makeup brushes weekly, but if you haven’t done so in a while I suggest you do it! One thing I haven’t done in a while is clean the lint trap of my blow dryer. I didn’t realize how long it’s been and it was totally messing with how hot the blow dryer would get. I took a rat tail comb and cleaned it out and the next time I used it I almost burned my scalp! It’s like brand new again!
Clean out any makeup that is old especially mascara, lipsticks and glosses. I find that lipsticks and glosses tend to smell weird or get gunky when it’s time to toss and mascaras get super dry and flaky. Toss and take advantage of the spring newness from your favorite brands!
You can make some cash on the side spring cleaning as well! Check out this post for some tips!
Who’s ready for some spring cleaning! I can’t wait to be done with getting the house back in order!
