Every man needs his man cave right? But my husband’s man cave was an eye sore for me every time I walked into the house. We always use the side door to go in and out of the house and this is what I see every time I look to the left into the basement on my way in. It was enough to make me go mad!

He is always doing a project and in the middle of something so this is him stopping projects and starting new ones. In order to keep my sanity we put that drywall up (it wasn’t there before) and added a folding door at the bottom of the steps. This is end result…

So much better! He can still have his memorabilia and I can have my house looking nice when people come in the side door. Here’s a picture with the door closed.

So much better! We also painted the stairs because him dragging things up and down the stairs made it look so bad!

The whole thing was such a mess but looked so much better after painting it with floor paint and adding the rubber stair grips to it. Not sure what those things are called but they were easily installed after painting with nails and a hammer!

These small inexpensive changes completely transformed the entrance to his man cave. It’s a huge compromise. He keeps his man cave the way he likes it and I can just shut the door and not see it! It’s definitely a win win.
